Philadelphia Pagan Pride Day

After a hiatus of a few years, we are glad to see that Philadelphia Pagan Pride Day is back on the schedule for regional events this summer.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Clark Park in Philadelphia.

A fundraising event will also be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the A-Space Community Center on Baltimore Avenue in Philadelphia. A $10 donation can go a long way towards making PPPD a successful event.

This effort is undertaken by members of various Heathen and Pagan communities in the region and is consistent with work begun years ago as part of Keepers of the Old Ways discourse and interactions.

We encourage everyone to participate to help to make PPPD a phenomenal event!

Samhain Banquet - Sunday, October 30, 2011

The end of October presents a time of significant spiritual importance for people of many faiths. What we know in modern American society as "Halloween" is known by different names within the context of various spiritual paths. For instance, Druids and Wiccans use the Celtic term Samhain (roughly pronounced SAW-wain). Heathens of the Urglaawe tradition use the Deitsch (Pennsylvania German) term Allelieweziel (pronounced alleh-LEEveh-tseel) to refer to the same day.

Regardless of the tradition that we follow as individuals, this observance is steeped in centuries (if not millennia!) of spirituality, energy, and mystical power. We will share some of of our paths' methods of celebrating and observing this annual event over the course of the next few blog entries. However, for now, we wish to announce our upcoming event!

What: Samhain Banquet
When: Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 5:00pm
Where: West Dining Room at Lebanon Valley College, Lebanon, PA

This event will feature a mock ritual that will help attendees to understand some of the principles behind the festival's observance. Included in the ritual will be elements of Wiccan, Druid, and Heathen practices.

This event is being sponsored and presented by Lebanon Valley College, to which we are most grateful for the opportunity to share our knowledge as well as to learn from one another.

Tickets cost $12 each for general admission and $30 for a family with children. LVC students may come for meal exchange. Space is limited. For reservations, call the Office of Spiritual Life at (717) 867-6135 by Tuesday, October 25.

If you have any questions, you may e-mail us at oldwayskeepers@gmail.com

Thank you!
